Sunday was a rough day for me. I entered both the 4/5 and 4 races at Orchard Beach. I didn’t get to finish the 4/5 and had to get my derailleur hanger “fixed” after, and then in the final lap of the 4 race, I was taken out by someone who was far too eager to force his way into the line with nowhere for me to go while another rider was passing me on my left. Front spoke into rear derailleur and my race was done. Apologies if you were unfortunate enough to be behind me. A few tumbles and a bit of sliding and my leg met an unprotected tree just off the edge of the course.
Nothing broken, but the knee is obviously damaged. If nothing is torn, I will be extremely surprised. I fear my entire season is in jeopardy right now. It was all going so well too.
Now I won’t even get to wear the yellow jersey I earned for the L&C Cup. Hopefully one of my teammates can get himself up into the points and keep it in the family.
After the broken wrist in January and the persistent back issues that also came from that fall, I was finally feeling VERY strong and my sprinting abilities finally showed up.
I’m down, and admittedly a bit out as well. Hopefully a to be scheduled follow up with an orthopedist will turn out in my favor.
Now it’s time to go ice my cankle.
